University of Malta is the sole, highest teaching institution in Malta with over 11,000 students. UM has a strong research portfolio across a broad range of sectors important to the Maltese economy including medical genetics, biotechnology and biology sectors. It is equipped with modern laboratories and state of the art equipment and has participated successfully in over 150 EU funded projects, international and regional programmes. UM offers research support offices (legal, project administration) that ensure funding obligations are reached.
